Reconciliation Week 2023

This week is Reconciliation Week, recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ ongoing fight for equality, and commemorating two milestones; the 1967 referendum, which altered the constitution to include Aboriginal peoples as a part of the Australian population, and the High Court Mabo Decision of 1992, recognising First Nations land rights for the first time in Australian history.

This year’s theme, “Be a Voice for Generations”, calls on all Australians to listen, learn and act in support of equity and justice for First Nations peoples past, present and future. Metro Assist stands in solidarity with First Nations peoples’ calls for equity, including further truth-telling and treaty-making, and remains committed to contributing to a more just Australia.
