Need an interpreter? Just ask.

You can speak with us in your own language — at no cost. Many of our workers are bilingual, and we use the free Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National) when we need to. Tell us which language you prefer when you get in touch.

Who you'll be talking to

Stepwise Community Services helps people navigate life’s challenges with clarity and care. Formerly Metro Assist and Community Action for Better Living (CABL), we are now working together as one organisation across Sydney's inner west and south west. We're a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission, supported by partners including the NSW Government and Legal Aid NSW.

Our team includes qualified counsellors, caseworkers and bilingual support staff who provide settlement, family support, financial inclusion, tenancy and domestic violence services. However you reach us, you're talking with someone who understands what you're dealing with. If English isn't your first language, let us know, we work with interpreters across a wide range of community languages.

Qualified staff

Our social workers hold university qualifications or diplomas in their field.

Specialist input

We draw on an AHPRA-registered psychologist and accredited financial counsellors affiliated with FCAN.

Child safe

We comply with the NSW Child Safe Standards across every program we run.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an appointment?
Not always — you’re welcome to drop into our Campsie or Bankstown offices during opening hours. Our Condell Park office is by appointment only. Calling ahead is a good idea either way, so we can make sure the right worker is available for you.
Yes, and it’s free. Many of our workers are bilingual, and where we don’t have your language in-house we’ll arrange an interpreter through TIS National. Just tell us which language you prefer when you contact us.
Yes. What you share with us stays between you and our team, and we won’t pass on your details without your consent. There are a small number of legal exceptions — mainly where someone is at risk of harm — and we’ll always be upfront with you about those.

Use the form above and select Complaint as your reason for contact, or call us directly. We accept anonymous complaints where enough information is provided to look into the matter, though it does mean we can’t come back to you with an outcome.

Our offices are open Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm. If you’re in immediate danger call 000. For 24/7 support, contact 1800RESPECT on 1800 737 732 or Lifeline on 13 11 14
