Metro Assist and Community Action for Better Living (CABL) have today announced Stepwise Community Services as the new name of our integrated organisation, representing our shared future and unified vision.
The new identity marks an important milestone in the journey that began with the merger of Metro Assist and CABL, bringing together more than 90 years of combined experience supporting individuals, families and communities across Inner South West, Inner West, Southwest Sydney and beyond.
“At the foundation of both Metro Assist and CABL has always been a belief that people and communities should not have to navigate life’s challenges alone,” Ms Shahi said.
“That belief continues under our new identity. The name Stepwise reflects our understanding that meaningful progress happens one step at a time. Through practical support, partnership, advocacy and connection, we play our part in enabling the conditions that help people and communities thrive, while contributing to a more inclusive, equitable and cohesive society where people of all backgrounds can participate, belong, contribute
and flourish. We recognise the strength that comes from Australia’s diverse communities, cultures and lived experiences, and remain committed to ensuring that no one is left behind”
“This commitment is reflected in our everyday work. We walk alongside people facing challenges and barriers, meeting them where they are, recognising their strengths, and supporting them to navigate change, access opportunities and achieve the goals that matter to them.”
While the organisation’s name has changed, its commitment to the community remains unchanged.
Board Chair Richard Wonders said the new identity honours the legacy of both organisations while providing a clear and unified platform for the future.
“Metro Assist and CABL were established at different times and under different circumstances, but both organisations were built on a shared commitment to helping people and communities move forward,” Mr Wonders said.
“Stepwise Community Services carries that legacy forward while creating a stronger and more unified identity for the future. It reflects who we are, how we work and the impact we strive to create alongside our communities.”
The new name and identity reflect the organisation’s commitment to supporting people and communities to navigate challenges, overcome barriers and take positive steps towards the outcomes that matter to them, and Stepwise Community Services will continue delivering a broad range of community services and programs.
